Positive: A truly heartwarming stay with the most wonderful hosts! We had a lovely stay at Crystal Maze in Fort Kochi, and what made it truly special was uncle and aunty, who welcomed us with so much warmth and kindness. We had to change our original accommodation at the last minute due to transportation issues and booked this place in a rush. We arrived quite late in the evening, barely an hour or two after booking, and aunty wasn’t even aware of our reservation yet. Still, she welcomed us wholeheartedly, and when uncle arrived, he was equally warm and welcoming. Aunty was so thoughtful, recommending lovely places to visit, good food spots and even places to enjoy the nightlife. She also reassured us that we could come back whenever we liked, even if it got late, which made us feel completely at ease. The next morning, she surprised us with a complimentary breakfast, even though it wasn’t included in our booking. Having a warm, delicious breakfast at their own dining table felt like being welcomed into a family home. Uncle was always ready with helpful suggestions, whether it was finding good food, arranging transportation or navigating the local auto drivers. Both of them genuinely cared about making our stay comfortable. What touched us most was their kindness when our plans unexpectedly changed. We were supposed to check out in the morning and travel to Calicut, but due to an unfortunate situation, we had to cancel those plans and return to Bangalore. Uncle and aunty kindly allowed us to extend our stay until the evening so we could catch our bus at night. Their understanding and willingness to help during an unexpected situation meant more than words can say. We also spent some lovely time talking with them after breakfast about old Fort Kochi, the way Willingdon Island used to be and their memories of the past. It was such a pleasure meeting people who are so warm, open-minded, progressive and genuinely empathetic.
